We are very pleased to announce that Jonas D. Gassmann, LL.M., CIPP/E, Attorney at Law, has been promoted to Counsel and new Head of White-Collar Crime effective from 1 January 2023.
Jonas D. Gassmann is an Attorney at Law who specialises in intellectual property law and white-collar crime. Media law (including telecoms and advertising law), IT and data law are his other key areas of practice.
He has extensive litigation experience in the fields of trademark, design, patent, copyright and unfair competition law. Jonas D. Gassmann regularly supports clients in their fight against counterfeits and in the enforcement of their rights online. His experience in the field of white-collar crime is also very broad, including in the context of internal investigations. Jonas D. Gassmann represents both companies and individuals in proceedings before Swiss authorities and courts.
Jonas D. Gassmann also advises and supports clients outside of litigation. This includes the development of branding and advertising strategies, and negotiating and drafting complex agreements in the media and entertainment sector (e.g., TV and SVOD licence and distribution agreements, and co-operation agreements). He has a profound understanding of the interactions between law, technology and the economy.
He is an active member of several professional associations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Association of Privacy Professionals (iapp) and the Private Claimants Network (PCN). Jonas D. Gassmann regularly publishes essays and articles, and frequently speaks on subjects within his areas of expertise.
After graduating from the Law School of the University of Lucerne in 2009, Jonas D. Gassmann was admitted to the bar in 2013. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional Europe (CIPP/E) and holds an LL.M. degree in Media Law from Queen Mary University of London (2017).
At the beginning of his legal career, Jonas D. Gassmann gained valuable practical experience at a District Court in Zurich and at a Public Prosecutor in Lucerne. He joined VISCHER in 2013 and quickly became a go-to attorney in the areas of IP, media and entertainment, tech, data and white-collar crime.
