The attorneys at VISCHER are involved in various non-profit organisations. Below are some examples of our pro bono work.

Since 1996 Dr. Sebastian Burckhardt has been a member, and since 2006 Vice President, of the Board of the Foundation for the Deaf and speech therapy school Riehen and Wielandschule Arlesheim / Bottmingen. This is a private foundation advising young people with communication disabilities as well as supporting and training them in three schools in north-western Switzerland.

Dr. Felix W. Egli is Vice Chairman of the Zürcher Brockenhaus association. The association runs the Zürcher Brockenhaus for the purpose of promoting social welfare and public benefit, in particular with a year-round programme to reintegrate people into work and with direct and indirect support for social projects. Dr. Felix W. Egli is also a member of the Foundation Council of the Lindenhof Foundation, which supports people in need, the placement and provision of affordable housing and the research in liberal arts, especially modern philosophy. He is also a board member of the Fraumünster Association, which aims to promote the community life in the preaching congregation of the Fraumünster church in Zurich. From 2012 – 2017 he has also been a board member of the "Mission 21 - evangelical mission of Basel" (www.mission-21.org) which promotes the theological and cultural exchange, as well as projects in development cooperation within fields such as poverty alleviation, health care, women and gender, education, and the advancement of peace. 

Dr. Thomas Gelzer has been a member of the board of trustees of the Christoph Merian Foundation (www.merianstiftung.ch) since 2001. The foundation is committed to helping people in need, to a healthy environment, to the quality of life and to culture in Basel. He is also president of the Fondation Sur-la-Croix (www.fondation-sur-la-croix.ch), which promotes ecologically and economically sustainable agriculture and supports projects in this field. Dr. Thomas Gelzer also chairs the Josef and Olga Tomcsik Foundation, Basel, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Basel Theatre Cooperative (Theater Basel, www.theater-basel.ch).

Dr. David Jenny is president of the Board of the Fund for Advancement of Teaching and Research of the Voluntary Academic Society of Basel (www.fag-basel.ch). He sits on the Board Committee of the Home Care Organisation of Basel www.spitexbasel.ch and is a member of the board of the Association of Basel Foundations (www.stiftungsstadt-basel.ch). He is also a member of the Swiss Scout Foundation (www.pfadistiftung.ch) as well as of the European Scout Foundation.

Dr. Matthias Staehelin president of BioValley Basel since 2016 into which the BioValley Business Angels Basel was merged into.

Dr. Thomas Weibel is a member of the Board and the Committee of the LA CETRA Association, which is the parent organisation of "La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel", a leading international historical performance orchestra: www.lacetra.ch.

Christian Wyss supported Conservation International in the negotiation of a cooperation agreement for agricultural services with a company headquartered in Switzerland. Conservation International is an American non-profit organisation that promotes the responsible and sustainable use of nature: www.conservation.org. He is also a member of the board of the Willy A. and Hedwig Bachofen-Henn-Foundation.
