Raphael Butz is a partner at VISCHER.
He is a successful litigation and arbitration lawyer with many years of experience in handling complex national and international disputes. Raphael advises companies, private individuals and public entities on resolutions for all types of conflicts. He represents his clients in court and administrative proceedings, arbitration proceedings as well as in alternative dispute resolution settings and out-of-court settlement negotiations. Raphael focuses on contract and commercial law, construction and real estate law, banking law, corporate law and the law of succession. He regularly publishes and lectures on civil procedure, construction and real estate law topics. Within VISCHER's dispute resolution team, Raphael leads the practice area of construction and real estate disputes.
Raphael graduated second of his class from the Law School of the University of Basel in 2005. In 2009, he was admitted to the bar and in 2014 received his Master of Law (LL.M.) from the University of San Diego. During his Master studies in the U.S., Raphael also worked as a volunteer mediator at the San Diego County Small Claims Court. Before joining VISCHER in 2011, Raphael worked for another major commercial law firm in Zurich, advising clients on corporate, contract and banking law matters as well as on real estate and M&A transactions.
Raphael is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) as well as the Swiss and Basel Bar Association. Raphael speaks German, English, French and Italian.
