Dr. Joel Drittenbass works as an Attorney at Law in the Regulatory Team at VISCHER. He advises and represents parties mainly in public law matters; particularly in health/life science law, energy and environmental law, data protection law, and product safety law. His focus is on advising companies operating in regulated markets, primarily in the healthcare and energy sectors. In addition, he works in risk and innovation law, as well as in the laws regarding emerging technologies (IT/AI law, robotics law, etc.).

Joel Drittenbass studied law at the University of St. Gallen (M.A. HSG in Law 2017). Before and during his PhD, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Public Business Law at the University of St. Gallen. In his PhD thesis, which was awarded the Professor Walther Hug Prize 2021, he dealt in depth with the data protection and medical product law aspects of autonomous medical robots. Before joining VISCHER, Joel Drittenbass worked at a leading business law firm in St. Gallen.

Joel Drittenbass has been admitted as a Attorney at Law in the Canton of Zurich since 2022. In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Joel Drittenbass regularly teaches, researches and publishes in the areas of public and administrative law, with a special focus on the laws regarding emerging technologies (IT/AI law, robotics law, etc.). He practices in German and English and also speaks French and Spanish.
