Attorney at Law / Partner
Daniele Favalli

Daniele Favalli is a highly experienced dispute resolution practitioner with extensive experience representing Swiss and international clients in commercial disputes and international arbitration proceedings. As a partner in the Dispute Resolution Team of VISCHER, he co-heads VISCHER's dispute practice. Specifically, Daniele Favalli has more than 20 years of experience in advocacy,  placing him in a perfect position to fully understand the Swiss legal system. He appears on a daily basis before Swiss (commercial) courts and arbitral tribunals under Swiss Rules, ICC, LCIA, ICDR, AAA, and ad hoc proceedings. He also serves, periodically, as an arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings.

His expertise extends beyond Swiss law, as he also represents clients in international commercial disputes, for example, in proceedings related to international judicial assistance in civil matters and, specifically, under the Hague Evidence Convention. Notably, he practiced for more than 7 years in the U.S. with an U.S.-American firm following his completion of a master's program at the University of Texas in Austin. Having worked as a practitioner in the U.S., he has extensive working experience with clients from the U.S. and Latin America.

When it comes to proceedings abroad, he has a wealth of experience representing clients, together with local counsel in the respective jurisdictions, in legal proceedings in the United States, Italy, and Latin America with a view of a possible later enforcement in Switzerland and abroad. Over the years, Daniele has built a remarkable insurance litigation practice, advising insurance companies and insured parties as coverage counsel before Swiss courts and abroad on a variety of insurance issues (e.g., D&O and financial lines, construction insurance, life insurance programs). Another field of expertise is related to IT, Telecom, and outsourcing companies where he represents major international clients in a number of industry-related litigation matters.

In addition to his legal practice, he is a respected figure in the academic community. He is a founding member and a member of the Academic Council of the Swiss Arbitration Academy (SAA) and served as head coach of the VIS Moot Team of the University of Lucerne for more than 12 years. Daniele Favalli publishes and regularly lectures on arbitration, procedural law, insurance law, and international private law.

He is fluent in German, English, Italian, Spanish, and French, which enables him to communicate effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. His experience and expertise in the field of dispute resolution make him a valuable asset to clients seeking to resolve complex commercial disputes.
