Benedict F. Christ

Benedict F. Christ has a unique blend of legal and strategic business skills. He is a versed M&A advisor and negotiator experienced across a broad spectrum of complex national and cross-border transactions and business matters. He is advising international and domestic clients in a wide variety of transactions which encompass the full cycle of their business activities, from advising on tax effective structure on start up or entry into Switzerland, through contract negotiations, raising capital and, ultimately, to designing and implementing an exit. Areas and industries in which Ben had been advising include restructuring distressed M&A, real estate, TMT, transport, finance and private equity.

Ben is a corporate/M&A partner located in VISCHER's Zurich office and heads the firm's insolvency and restructuring practice group. Ben has been with VISCHER since 2002. Prior to joining VISCHER, Ben had been a foreign associate with Mayer Brown in New York. He is admitted to the bar in Switzerland and in New York. Ben holds a Ph.D. from the University of Fribourg and an LL.M. degree from New York University. 

Ben has twenty years of M&A and transactional experience. Noteworthy deals include advising Closomat in the restructuring of its core business and the bankruptcy of the remaining parts, advising Baloise in the purchase of a majority stake in Pax Anlage AG and making a public tender offer for the balance of the shares, advising Celgene in the acquisition of EngMab, advising Toshiba in the acquisition of Landis & Gyr, advising UBS in the up to then largest rights offering in Switzerland as well as advising on real estate sale and lease back transactions.

Benedict regularly publishes on current topics. Recent publications include commentaries on the Swiss Covid-19 credits and on shareholders' rights and obligations.
